Miley Cyrus Rant..written in 2009

So,
I have to get this off my chest. I have two 5 year olds that LOVE Hannah Montanna a.k.a Miley Cyrus. Heck , I myself find the show funny. For those of you that are parents and have watched the show, try and tell me Jackson and Rico aren't really funny characters. Oliver is pretty funny at times too. But here's whats bugging me. She has this show thats making millions, a clothing line making millions, and her face is on everything from pillows to whatever. The Disney machine is a very terrifying machine if you pay attention to what they control on our kids. But here's my issues. Ok, so recently she got veneers. Whoch really makes her look weird, apparently she didnt like her teeth and got veneers. Whats wrong with not having a completely perfect smile? Isn't that how kids can relate to her? But I digress. the reason I'm shaking my head over this kid is for what she said on the red carpet of the Oscars. They asked her about her movie coming up, which is a movie based on the show with all the same characters, but they travel I guess. So the interviewer asked her about her movie, and Miley responded something like this "It's gonna be a great movie, we worked really hard on it, and hopefully we will be back here next year recieiving something for it. The movie is actually alot deeper than people think", HUH? A g rated movie about Hannah Montanna is going to be up for Oscars??? For what? What category? Do you think when Meryl Streep heard that he cried or puked? Or maybe both? Is this kid brainwashed to the point where she thinks everything is really that easy? That you just get nominated on a whim? Look I like Miley, and the Jonas Brothers who were great with Alec Baldwin, but come on. Someone has to keep this kid grounded and talk some sense into her, or she's gonna go Britney. And the " deeper than people think" line? Is Miley gonna save the government? Is she gonna fly to Africa to feed the homeless? Or is it going to be a movie with lots of pop songs, funny campy jokes and a romance thrown in for the girl fans? I vote for the latter. So please Miley, and the people who handle Miley, become more coached in what you say when you're inteviewed. the prees is waiting for you to mess up. They're drooling for that one mistake and then BAM, it's over. Sorry i have been thinking about that comment since Sunday , which shows you how boring I am. ANd just for the record, the funniest show on DIsney is Phineas and Ferb. Hands Down. Dr. Doofenshmertz and Perry the platypus kill me. One of the best comic duos in years. I really mean that. Ok, back to being a grown up
